Dirty flaks with fumefx November 2021
Hey there, back with new fumefx RnD so I referenced and researched the Flak that had been done by Graham Collier,Nail Horn, some other examples on vimeo and did very basic annotations of How I thought I could get that look. so I begin by working on the particles first so there was 4 different particle sources one for the inner thick trails and another for the explosion ball (mushrooming one) and the others are the thin part and the main trails
Early Particles Tests |
for the particle sources settings I will provide a photo for it btw the main affect for it all is animating the fuel and temp and the smoke from a high value to zero or a little bit more and to get the feel of boof ! I have been animated the time scale from 2 to 0.5 over 20 frames, now for the shading part Black Body shader was used for fire and i have 3 different colors for the smoke every Particle source has different one to make it a little bit dirty look

Long Main Trails |
Short Thick Trails |
Long Thin Trails |
This is just a quick and early test for the flaks I think that I would have some more time to improve it more. I hope that you have benefited from anything here, and if there is any question, please send it Video on Vimeo : https://vimeo.com/647490506

Allan Mckay's FX TD Mentorship (Plane Explosion)
Hello,i have been working on this project for the last two weeks and finally i have something to show and also i will talk a little about this project and all the problems that i have been faced to achieve this result
now let's talk about the journey to make this out it's not complete yet but hope it will,so first of all we start with a simple pflow system that generates particles on the plane mesh surface (we used a proxy mesh of it)
then we spawn from this particles another events one for the dirt explo and other for the ringShockwave and the last one for the streaks and then we use the particle src in fumefx and adjust the radius and the velocity mltp and the main challenge is to get a realy violent explosion that moves towards the camera
so we have make a realy strong turbulance and a small size and fast frq also add an additional wind space warp to fumefx to make it more wavy motion as for the grid size it's originaly realy damn big so we have to do our best to optimize the effect so we have been use the void src and also a simple src with negative value to kill any fluids that didn't need or away from the camera but keep in mind that when use the simple src will not reduce the grid size but will make it bigger becasue the negative channels in it but the void src is working will after simulating the grid it actualy took alot of time and also need a lot of work becuase in my case it have been crashing alooooot of time but you have to working along with that then for the shading and composting for fume i have been used the blackbody shading method and for comp have been used fusion and of course rendered with V-ray you could render it out with scanline but i choose vray to be able to output a 32bit range exr files then i have rendered ffx fire and somke seperate elements to use in composting and ya have learn alot with it and also i will provide you with the files i have been working on you could demonstrate how it works so thank you for reading all of this.
